Uhm, my boyfriend and I have a long distance relationship going on and his mum has a thing about not having a girlfriend except in the summer buut he talked to her about it and she said it was alright and so we can now talk on the phone but it seems like he doesn't want to and I brought it up to him a couple times and how it makes me feel and he said he does buut we never do. And everytime I want to he seems to have an excuse. What do you think?
I think that as females, we tend to make ordeals out of things that they don’t see as an issue at all. You rarely hear of guys just calling up their friends to aimlessly chat, they always have a specific purpose and it’s short and to the point. I think when a guy talks on the phone to a girl, he’s putting in a lot more effort than we give them credit for usually. It’s just not in their nature.
However, since most of your entire relationship is based off of communication like the internet and the phone, tell him that under different circumstances, you wouldn’t need to talk on the phone as much but it’s really hard to feel emotionally connected to someone you never see, and it’s even harder if he rarely wants to talk on the phone. Maybe suggest however many times a week you would like to talk, or if you do it every day, set aside a time that works for both of you in advance. That way it’s harder for him to have an excuse.
